In 2013, the Central Government put forward a strategic vision of building the "Silk Road Economic Belt" and the "Twenty-first Century Maritime Silk Road", referred to as "the Belt and Road", to promote close cooperation of regions along the two ancient economic corridors. In March 2015, the Central Government further published a blueprint for the program to promote trade links, financial intermediation, infrastructure investment and policy coordination across Asia, Europe and Africa.
"The Belt and Road" is an important strategy for the development of China. How can Hong Kong, as a city enjoying the dual advantages of “one country” and “two systems”, make good use of the unique strengths in professional services sector, tie in with this important national strategy and make a positive contribution? What role can we play to seize the opportunities brought about by "the Belt and Road", and how can we strive for new development momentum while cooperating with China's development, to explore new opportunities in regional business advancement?
With regard to these issues, the Conference will invite stakeholders to discuss and exchange views from different perspectives, enabling participants to have a better understanding of this important strategy, and equip themselves, seize the opportunities, bring into play their strengths and make a contribution to the country's development.
The Conference will address the following areas:
